This morning, just as I was setting out for work, one of my cats flopped down directly in my path and showed no disposition to move. Yes, you may laugh (not too loudly, please, for I am a sensitive soul). The truth is that my ascent up the auto-technological ladder has been a little too quick for comfort - for example, only two years ago I had never driven a car with air-conditioning, digital mileage-recorders or an ECU - and I have not yet learned to modify my habits to allow for (relatively) modern security arrangements. At all events, there I was: no spare key, no spare time, and even if my AA coverage had included Home Start I could not have contemplated leaving the engine idling for forty minutes or more. So I broke a window, climbed through it, drove away, and tried to be thankful that (a) the car has no alarm and (b) I am a skinny little wretch and fairly agile for my age.
Is there anything else I could have done, I wonder? (Apart from not shutting the ******* door with the ******* key inside, that is.)

Oh how I laughed reading this, reminded me of an old mate way back in the eighties that parked his metro turbo in the garage ( I know but people did buy them) anyway locked the door with the engine running & his house keys on the pasenger seat . After much fecking around he pick's up a house brick & lob's it at the side glass it bounced off & knocked him out

2002 110 HDi estate, Rapier in monaco blue! ( found quite a bit more power ) SOLD I've sorted the airbag light
1998 3.0 V6 SE coupe in Diablo Red ( my baby ) sold
2006 206 1.4 16v sport in Aegean blue ( wife's shopping trolley )
I now have a mental picture of that happening.... I guess stopped the Metro catching fire....
A friend of ours used to work for British Gas, he drove to someones house for a boiler fix, got out the van to open the gate and his van ran him over..
He was a poorly man for a while but I think he learned not to do that again.
Another friend drove into 'her' garage,got out of her car and closed the garage door behind her. She plipped her key to make sure car was locked ( with garage door closed ) and she pushed the wrong button and popped the boot up instead. As the estate cars boot was up, she couldn't open her garage door to get to the car as the garage door was hitting the raised tailgate. A locksmith came and simply cut a hole in the garage door...

Our locks on our 406 went crazy one day, clicking on and off every few seconds, even while driving.
But it was a crazy day all round, the bank machines, debit card machines in shops and the internet were all down too. Did I see a UFO flying over at the time? No comment
