The late, great James Hunt used to drive around in an old Austin A35 van. No power at all, but that was the point, he said. He drove the thing on the limit, all the time, risking neither life nor licence.
So who wants to swap their supertractor for my HDi 90 ?
Some good points in there. As much as I do like toys, I have to agree that
none of them are
necessary. The thing with all the 'safety' electronic paraphernalia is: to what extent does it absolve you of the responsibility to drive safely? Shall we apply that logic to ESP? ABS? Brake servo?!
The comments about rust protection are frightening, because we can't know for 10 to 15 years whether it's true.
Seeing what we can do with Planet, and the astonishing success reverse-engineering the ECU I'm not sure mux is something to be afraid of
per se.. Sure there's more electronics on a 407, but is it more
complicated?
What's in store for my 90?
Well I've swung back in favour of keeping it... until the next 407 turns up. I do want a 407... but I want the money more
So: cat smashed and lose a box out of the exhaust (as midsmike suggests), a remap, and sort out the passenger door. I think I was the shabbiest at Pugfest, but not as much worse as I thought :p
It probably does want want some tyres.
So that's going to come to the best part of £1k
