Urgent help required regarding Rear Caliper

Post by YAK »

Hi, the rear disks on my 52 plate 406tdi have been scored and will fail the MOT. I have got new disks and pads. The disk fitted fine, but the outer pad wont fit. When I took the old pad out I had to prise it as it was tight against the disk (hence the scoring).

It appears as if the whole calliper needs to move a few mm outboard.

If anybody knows the fix for this I would be very grateful as can't drive anywhere at the moment with half done brakes!!

Did you push the piston on the caliper back before removing it.

Undo the fluid reservoir cap under the bonnet & use a G-clamp to push the piston back in.

Perhaps the sliding mounts on the caliper have seized?
