I've got a problem with my hdi 110 clutch. Been driving around and it's been fine until this afternoon, parked car, restarted car after a couple of minutes and had trouble selecting gears. It is very hot here and it has all the symptoms of non disengagement. I also have vibration through the clutch pedal when applying slight pressure. This problem happened suddenly, could it be the hydraulics have overheated, fluid change unknown. At the moment waiting till later for it to cool down before I try it again, just drove the car home in 2nd, half mile or so.
suggestions?

Re: clutch and hot weather
It appears that the clutch release bearing has broken up. Car has only done 70k but is a 99 vintage so can't grumble I suppose.

Re: clutch and hot weather
The mechanic I use stripped out the clutch assy today and sure enough the clutch release bearing had failed, bits hanging out the back of it. So Peugeot recon clutch kit fitted, dmf was fine, gearbox oil replaced all for £235 total parts and labour, done on the drive in just over 4 hours.
The clutch plate wasn't bad at all having done 70k I assume old age got the bearing.

Yeah, they're good for around 150k on the torquier engines, and the bearing is horrible...The clutch plate wasn't bad at all having done 70k I assume old age got the bearing.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
