new pp2000 owner questions plz

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

That was enough, well apparently it says it works with 307 and c5, have you checked if you can use other diagnostic tools and if it work?

edit: Some days ago i have asked to that seller if it will work with my 406 and he couldn't say that it would, so i'm a bit confused lol.

With all the PP2000 threads on the go and as the subject is software/hardware might be an idea to have all of them lumped on to one separate forum.
I suggest loading the PP2000 software on to a laptop with a virgin Xp or XP-pro OS ie with internet connection available but without any anti-virus or anti-malware installed.
The internet connection is necessary after installing the software to download the many ECU's to the computer and I've discovered I cannot do my diagnostics unless I have an internet connection anyway. Anyone comment pse?
If the interface between the computer and the vehicle is not being recognised then the probability is the drivers have not been installed properly from the cd.
The DAM number is available on a sticker attached to the driver side front/rear door pillar which also includes tyre pressures etc and mine asks for the first five digits.
ECU not recognised means you may be using the wrong software.

For Peugeot vehicles up to 2005 use PP2000...
For Citroen up to 2006 use Lexia..
For Peugeot and Citroen from 2006 onwards use Diagtool.

In my case 2001 406 HD I used PP2000 clicking on the 406R ikon..

Hope this helps..

Needing internet? That's new to me, AFAIK there's no need for internet. And in my case all the clones i have tested failed to connect to the ABS, AIRBAG, ENGINE ECU's, so the problem is with the interfaces since with every other component works.

By the way if you have a good clone interface you can just use the latest version of DiagBox without problems with older cars like the 406, because if you choose an old peugeit car on the Diagox the program will launch the PP2000 right away, the same with citroen.

All I got from my supplier was internet connected or not doesn't make a jot of difference except internet connected slows down the diagnostics.
Perfectly happy with the speed of mine and results.
Will look at your Diagbox comment next time I connect up...

I agree there are too many threads about PP2000, but I accept my part of the blame for starting a new thread about it.

Using the internet is not required for diagnostics using these PP units, although to be fair the main dealer technicians have to log in with ID and a diagnostic card number to be able to use the system.....Dealer diagnostics performed are logged by Peugeot.

Having had several problems trying to use this unit I bought I have learned quite a bit about how these units work and thankfully having people that can do computer programming and testing has been very useful.

Regarding my own problems getting the thing to work it appears that there is a file missing from the programme and is stopping the programme from working correctly....my son, who is A Microsoft licenced evaluator has found the problem, but has gone home to Sweden now....however, my neighbour is also similar qualified and has agreed to sort it out for me as soon as he gets time.

The seller of the unit has promised to send me a new software disc, but is on holiday.

I'll post the conclusion whenever that might be.

Well I've left mine alone for a while. But so far the DAEMON tools download that you have use to mount the disc (programme) just fills my computer with loads of spam crap. So I need another download programme that doesn't fill my computer with crap that I can mount it with to get it working. No doubt some of you guys will know about this. I did get a copy off a fellow member that worked on a old pc I have without the need for any mount programme. But before I got the chance to try it on the car the pc decided to go pear shaped & just keeps crashing at start up & now the same disc just comes up knackered disc when I try it on my netbook

hi all after leaving it a good while I found a computer guy who got it working on me more or less if the software had of come on a usb it would have worked as there was too much info to be put on a cd thus having to use this daemon tools crap which just spammed my computer. any way it worked fine on his citroen c2 & berlingo. but on trying it on mine by myself I found that it was doing a global test on various things but it was keep coming up no dialoque is this no dialoque as in not connected to the car or as in no fault ????. but my netbook battery went flat so no good at the moment

Hi mate - I never have the engine running when I use PP, only to do a live feed.

After clicking Global test, it will test all ECUs present and display a thick red progress bar along the top of the screen.

You are in the right ball park, maybe try the 'test by ecu' option so you can check them individually?

Maybe because the engine is running perhaps the ECus are busy..... try it with ignition on position 2.

hi the lad had his citroen running to do his but he was looking for a injector fault. it also does the red bar thing but at each check it says ecu not responding. assuming it does connect at some point   will that come up it has a fault (which it does thats why i bought it) on the abs then click on it & that will let me sort this out.

Hopefully the ABS ECU will display a fault which you can then view and either clear the fault or let PP guide you through the fix.

Try again without engine running and see if it will connect.
