If I ever get this sorted I'll have to do a how to. As well as an idiot's guide to using PP for other idiots

Anyway, I have the pins on order from the bay. I did find them on eu.mouser.com who were willing to post outside the EU, either individually or in rolls of 6,000  Unfortunately, while I was making up an order, the moment I changed my delivery address to Croatia the postage shot up to $120 :frown: Seems that even though it says EU on their address they're based in the US and, like many of the US sellers on ebay, they claim to send stuff outside the EU but don't really want to, unless you pay a stupidly huge amount of cash to make it worth their while. Tossers

These are the pins I ordered http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOLEX-64322-1 ... 1107813852 There are 10 but I'll obviously only need one (and even if they are 200 times more expensive than they should be they're still much cheaper than $120-odd :frown: ) I'll also only get 1 chance because, as with anything made by Molex, insertion is free (pull out the green tab, stuff the pin in, close the green tab) but extraction requires a special tool (looks like disk with 2 pins sticking out of it and for some reason costs over 200 quid  )

This idiot thinks your injector flow correction values look a bit high. Suggest you try a leak off test.

The error message about pressing the brake and accelerator together could only make sense to a french software engineer,
(pour changer une ampoule combien de programmeurs sont nécessaires)?

Did you try clearing it to see if it comes back?

Dunno really, I think 1 is chucking too much in and it's been wound down to compensate. Or 3 are blocked :? I know there's further investigation required but, as the coolant temperature shows, the engine was stone cold when I did that, so perhaps things will change once it's warmed up. I do still have another set of injectors, I'm a bit reluctant to put them in because the fuel here will ruin them too, but I think it might be that time :(

I didn't clear anything, I didn't see much point as the car's not being driven and I hardly knew what I was doing anyway. Besides, I probably have pressed the brake and accelerator together, it's the way I used to take sleeping policemen in the BX so it's quite likely I've tried it at some point, I'm just surprised the car decided to complain about it

My god, I still have enough French left to understand that  Not enough to reply in French though - it's an infinite number of programmers because they'll never change a light bulb using a keyboard. You'd be better off with an infinite number of monkeys anyway.

That's what I meant, people must do it all the time.

Doh!

I thought heel and toe was for rear wheel drives :? Or does everyone like to launch their cars over the sleeping policemen? :? :?

Anyway, the piece of crap's going in for a spot of welding next week so I should get a chance to look at those correction figures when it's warmed up.

While I'm here I thought I should 'fess up and say I didn't get a chance to hook the Pug up to PP as the Yoyo was in the repairers for less than a day: I took it in Wednesday morning and as Thursday was a Bank Holiday (something about a body?) I didn't expect to see it again 'til Friday but I got a call Wednesday after lunch saying it was done. Dunno how good a job it was but it looks good (which is all that matters really), suspension turrets free of rust and sprayed up with what looks suspiciously like VW blue. Next time it goes up in the air (which probably won't be until November) I'll see what it looks like underneath and maybe give it a squirt with some used engine oil (what, use up my precious Waxoyl on the Yoyo? Not a chance!)

Meanwhile, no sign of the pins from ebay as yet. Presumably HR customs & excise are still wondering how much they can rip me off for them

Yoyo In MOT Pass Shock

And the emissions were better than before apparently. This is on another new cat fitted a few months back. I did the battery disconnect reset thing before I set off but, with the warning lights taped out, I've no idea what the piece of crap is doing. I thought I'd do a last year this year comparison just for kicks:

Ah well, I guess the Yoyo doesn't get driven into a tree for another year. Woo. It'll need both sets of summer and winter tyres soon too

And I still didn't get time to have a go at the cruise on the Pug  I know I'm unemployed/retired but I'm not a masochist :P

I guess we're not sure whether to congratulate or commiserate. :? Here goes:

If you need it it's all tested and available. :D

If you don't it's surely more nickable?

Congriserate? :? I've not had a car I've been so indifferent about since my mark four craptina, although I won't be jumping up and down on this one's roof when I'm drunk (don't drink anymore). While I was washing it yesterday (I wouldn't have bothered but I've been told the testers here turn cars away if they're too dirty) I noticed that the discovery of new chips and dents didn't fill me with the usual feelings of hatred they have on other cars I've owned. Oh dear. I'm driving this all the time just now, the black Pug would be like an oven just now anyway, besides my back starts to complain if I drive it for any length of time.

Other washing thoughts:
"What kind of idiot would buy one of these out of choice? Well, ok, what kind of idiot that knew anything about them would buy one out of choice?"
"Who would look at one of these and thing "yes, that ticks all the boxes"? Unless their only box was the one marked "Wouldn't give a toss where it was parked." Tick."
"That Nissan Navara was a disappointing pile of dog crap too, I'm pretty sure this is the last Japanese car I ever have."
"If I got rid of this what would I replace it with? Everything else like it is "too big" unless it's too small to be practical. Another one perhaps? They can't all be this bad can they? Maybe not but if I did get another and it went wrong they'd all laugh and say I was a dumbass who had it coming. Anyway I've missed my chance to get rid of it, besides I'm not allowed to sell it so I'll have to drive it into the ground. And probably be ordered to fix it again. Oh god, I can't imagine having to drive this for the rest of my life, I will go mad."
"Is that a patch of rust there?"

Guess what I've been doing...

Yep, running a wire through the car to fit cruise. It's been a bastard, all sorts of fiddly stuff, from putting the pin into the Molex connector (which way around does it go?), putting a wire through the bulkhead (photographs? I could hardly see the gromet, let alone photograph it), to wiring up the redundant brake light switch (oh come on, I'm sure they could have made it even harder to get to if they tried  ). I started yesterday morning and I've just finished configuring it via PP. It's now 39 degrees in the shade here, I was under the walnut tree for the shade, unfortunately so were all the flies - there's nothing like standing on your head in the footwell, both hands doing something fiddly with something you can barely reach, torch in your mouth and a fly biting your exposed stomach

Now all I need to do is test drive it. I guess I'd better wash it first because it's as dusty as hell  But first I'm going to pass out in the corner for a day or so...

I'm having a few problems navigating around but managing with the help of Doggy's screenshots above (cheers again mate :cheesy: ) I didn't have many problems installing it, I just stuck that 21.14 on there and off it went. The laptop does want to install the drivers every time I plug PP in but I guess it gets it off the CD which is still in there 'cos I'm too lazy to take it out/worried I'd loose it/it'd get damaged. Also, every time it starts PP, it gives me an error about Firefox and Java but I just ok that and it seems to carry on loading with no further complaints. It does take a while to load I must admit.

I've never OKed the update (why?)

Btw when I had the laptop out in the garden earlier it was getting mighty hot, I decided to close it down if the cpu got to 55 but it stopped just short. The cooling fans were whirring away merrily and Speedfan was telling me it was just about to catch fire :(

You don't need a Cray or a bunch of blade servers for this, my first incarnation lived on daughter's cast off Dell Inspiron 1000, circa 2002 with XP Home. When that succumbed to psu meltdown, I replaced it with a 10-yr old Compaq N1005 off fleabay, for 29 squids....

Excellent work there wiv the wiring young master earwigg, I hope your sterling efforts are successful.

Cruise no worky :( I took it for a drive Sunday and nothing happened, even at 130. Hopefully I'll know more when I plug PP back into it but that'll have to wait until I feel like getting cooked and eaten under the walnut tree again.

It's odd but I can feel myself anticipating the accelerator pedal dropping away from my foot as I engage cruise, even though a) I've not driven a car with cruise for almost 10 years and b) I know for fact that it won't do that anyway.
