Thanks for your pm.
I tried to reply, but the message is stuck in my outbox, not in sent items.

Briefly, I had issues with reading my ecu file via galletto last night.
75% of the way through copying the file it threw up an error on the pc software. The airbag light also came on during the copy??
Every subsequent attempt to read or copy the ecu file failed - not even 1% copied. The galletto's obd connector got pretty warm too. Don't know if this is normal. The red light on the obd connector is working, but not much else seems to be.

Maybe the galletto cable is fried. I assume it's just a serial/usb converter inside the connector?
I bought it from a uk seller through Amazon, so at least I have a fighting chance of obtaining a replacement if it is faulty.

The car still runs, so I don't thing the ecu file is corrupted.

Pete.

BTW, my e-mail address is my 406oc user name at hotmail dot co dot uk
If it's stuck in your outbox i think it just means Doggy ain't seen it yet.

When it got as far as 75% it could have read the file check where you saved it and if it's there open the file in Galletto.
Have you tried copying the galletto files into a folder on your desktop? i had all sorts of crashes until i done that.

Yes, I copied the contents of the cd onto the desktop, and ran the software from there.
There was no file created in the location I specified, even on the one occasion it reached 75%.

I will have another go tonight.

PM returned.

The mechanical side of the job is now complete. At least the car wants to go now, up to 3000rpm anyway.
I am guessing that installing the modified ECU file won't clear the fault codes and limp mode; is this correct?

I will probably invest in a PP2000 anyway since my existing OBD reader doesn't speak French.

Normally downloading the 'no-FAP' file will clear the fault code(s), assuming they relate to the additive ecu, (which is reposnsible for monitoring dpf differential pressure, additive quantity, adding it to the fuel tank and requesting regeneration assisitance from the engine ecu. It also 'asks' the engine ecu to initiate fault code reporting).

Once the dpf flag is cleared, the engine ecu will completely ignore the additive computer.

If you have further issues which are not additive ecu related, these are likely to return.

If you're going to keep the car for any length of time, it's vanishingly unlikely you won't save the cost of a PP2000 system and it does let you configure a few things you couldn't otherwise.

Well, the second attempt with the Galletto was also unsuccessful.
I'll be trying to get a replacement unit asap.

Thanks for all your help so far, guys. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Have you checked the fuse for the OBD socket? I can't remember which one it is though, sorry.

I haven't checked the fuse, but the red light on the galletto connector works.
The connector gets very warm during use, and I don't think the power necessary to produce that heat can come from a USB port. Rather I think there is a fault in the serial/usb converter with heat being either the cause or a symptom.

I'll have another crack at this when I get a replacement galletto.

You'd be surprised how much heat 500mA at 5V can generate, I speak from experience :supafrisk:

Heat is bad though, so you're probably right that the Galetto is broken. Fingers crossed the next one works...

Is it me or is there a mass of sh*te Galletto's floating around? Pretty sure Scotty had the same problems when he first tried one. Glad I never tried it myself now as the way my luck runs I would have got one that broke halfway through uploading a new file to the ECU!

The red LED suggests the diagnostic supply is OK, (the lack of LED was how I tripped over my blown fuse).

Haha indeed, and doesn't a linear regulator get hot when you get USB V+ and GND the wrong way round!

Ah I didn't realise the diagnostic LED was driven from the OBD port power supply, that rules out the fuse then. Let's hope the replacement Galleto fixes things...
