Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Locks

Post by sollyboy »

Hi Pug lovers
Well its all happening at the moment to the old pug, still have a leak from my fuel rail, had a smash in that snow few weeks back, need a front wing and two door, a bit of luck with the doors, got two from the salvage yard same colour £120 for the two. But now the central locking is playing up , wonder if any one could give me some pointers , press the key to lock doors , not a thing , red l.e.d light comes on-and off ok, inside the car lock the drivers door and the rest of the doors do not close automatically. I've just had a look in the Hayes manual, says that there is a control box or euc box where the fuses are , would it be a chase of just changing this unit ???

Have a read of this BSi reboot procedure I can't say it will help, and you must only try it at your own risk. However, it may be usefull.

TBH though it sounds more like the hard wiring is incorrect when you fitted the new locks? Doesn't the drivers side lock have 2 more wires than the others to give a control signal to shut them all or something? maybe there the wrong way round etc?

Locks and more

Hi Welton
I've not got round to putting on the new doors on yet, ( I may try the BSi reboot procedure)to get the central locking working . My car doors are all electric windows, the passengers door from the salvage yard is a manual winder type, any one Know if its easy to transfer the eletrics window mechanism to my new door ??

Plus I'm after a second hand Bosch Fuel Rail for a 90 hdi engine, just got a quote from a garage for £400 for the Bosch Fuel Rail and new pipes, (ouch) so I've been phoning the local salvage yards, but no luck ,and most will want to keep a good engine in one lump. So can anyone point me to any one who can break an engine to get a part like a fuel rail , mines leaking from the fuel sensor (split in the Fuel Rail thread for the sensor) making it idle and rev up ramdomly, plus a mess on my drive.
Will check E bay , but if any one knows of an 90 hdi engine which could be broken up for spares ( Bosch Fuel System )would be great to here.

Locks reboot, worked for me

Post by sollyboy »

Cheers Welton your a star mate
Tried the Bsi reboot procedure and it has given life back to my central locking, just had to set the clock and windows and all is fine. Apart from two doors and a wing and my fuel rail to get fixed car slowly getting back to it's old state. Will have ago at trying a second hand fuel rail and old pipes, if it leaks well a least I tryed it, and if it works I've saved a big lump of money.
Cheers all the best Sollyboy
