Hi Welton and Pug lovers
I've not got round to putting on the new doors on yet, ( I may try the BSi reboot procedure)to get the central locking working . My car doors are all electric windows, the passengers door from the salvage yard is a manual winder type, any one Know if its easy to transfer the eletrics window mechanism to my new door ??
Plus I'm after a second hand Bosch Fuel Rail for a 90 hdi engine, just got a quote from a garage for £400 for the Bosch Fuel Rail and new pipes, (ouch) so I've been phoning the local salvage yards, but no luck ,and most will want to keep a good engine in one lump. So can anyone point me to any one who can break an engine to get a part like a fuel rail , mines leaking from the fuel sensor (split in the Fuel Rail thread for the sensor) making it idle and rev up ramdomly, plus a mess on my drive.
Will check E bay , but if any one knows of an 90 hdi engine which could be broken up for spares ( Bosch Fuel System )would be great to here.

Solly, no one will strip 'bits' off an engine for you because it renders it useless to them.
You've either just got to buy new parts or buy the whole engine (used).
If it was me I would be tempted to get a complete engine off ebay, strip it for the bits you need now then keep it as a spare unit. Think about it, you can abuse your engine something rotten knowing you have a spare! I bet you'll get one for £400.00

you cant buy one second hand as they are pretty much usless once the unions are undone, the rail can hold 1500 bar of pressure, so the unions are only designed to be tightened once otherwise they leak, hence your problem, i would buy the parts and fit them yourself, its not that hard just very bloody messy and smelly

One garage who quoted me the new Fuel Rail and new pipes for £400 said they would not fit a second hand Fuel Rail as they can not guarantee the work plus it very dangerous as he new of a mechanic who lost a eye working on a common rail fuel system which sprang a leaked. But still told me it was worth a try , just keep it clean, and use new pipes. So will give Maidstone a ring and see what happens.
