Sat Nav Checklist...?

Post by trufflehunt »

The sat nav on my HDI 110 Exec has no life.

Use the remote, tried fresh batteries, .... not a peep.

In the boot, when I press the eject button on the CD changer the map disc ejects OK.
And with the CD in.., The Led's for ON and CD are lit. (No keys in ignition).

Does anyone know, or point me to a checklist of things I can go through..?

Or how to check if the remote itself is bricked.

My satnav doesn't work either so I can't help with much, but you should be able to use the remote to set the date/time on the display etc, whether the satnav's working or not.

Behaviour of the CD-ROM drive sounds normal.

Do you ever get the error: 'Navigation CD-ROM unreadable'?

On the MFD when the radio is off the top right hand panel should show either the date or the current location, and the mode button on the remote switches between the two. (With the radio on the mode button cycles these two plus a radio info page.) Can you see these and use the mode button?

If you press the menu button on the remote then one of the two options is to set the date and time. If not then I reckon the remote is the problem -- which I haven't encountered before.

Come to one of our meets then we can check with different remotes :cheesy:

Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Hi, I have never come across a faulty remote yet, but there is always a first.

As others have suggested, can you scroll through the MFD menu?

Sometimes when you put in a CD, there will be a message saying ' initialising ' or ' loading ' or something like that - this can take a long time or sometimes doesn't work and you will have to put CD in with stereo off, when both CD unit lights come on, then turn on the stereo - seems to kick start the process sometimes.

Clutching at straws a bit though.
