Epileptic Speedo

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Epileptic Speedo

Post by Nandad »

Yes I can use that expression caus my son is.

My speedo is having mini seizures and it is driving me up the wall. Sometimes loss of power sometimes not. Searched on the site and got some answers.

The local agent is being a pain and will not give me any part numbers

Ebay list 2 gearbox sensors for my car.
Has anyone got access to a parts file or tell us which one is right. Pleeeeze! caus the missus is giving me grief about how slow I am

I think its a D8. 1998 Executive Estate 2.0l Turbo

6160 64 but it's more likely to be the transponder box over the glovebox - 1929SJ. This comes at a rather hefty 57 quid but it's the same box as all D8s with an ML5 gearbox, your TE, 2.1td and ES9J4 V6 . i.e. coupe territory, so you might want to try Ade Bingham on the coupe club.

Are we sure this isn't just a D8 dry solder issue?

At a steady 40 my speedo used to read 0...110...0...50...20 etc... with the occasional trip with an accurate reading, resoldered the clocks and all has been well for 18 months now.
