GSF parts sucks

Post by Captain Jack »

So, I ordered some service items: oil, sump plug seal, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter and the cabin filter. Out of these, the sump plug seal wouldn't fit (too small a hole), the fuel filter was completely wrong and completely different from the picture they show on their site (the correct one) - even though the part number is the same and the cabin filter is wrong too.

I will never, ever, use them again.

I've never heard of GSF parts.... Do you have an APD / MPD near you? In Gloucestershire I used to use APD but now across the border I am finding MPD ''bearable''

Hi, I have found that GSF are generally quite good. I've used them before but now I use one called something else, I forget, but they are better.

When I bought the wrong fuel filter ( my fault - Mahle not Bosch as I thought ) they exchanged it no problems.

Just take the stuff back, get it swapped and maybe look elsewhere next time.

They used to be German and Swedish, which I know of old when I was fixing various VWs. Now they're German, Swedish and French.

I can kind of understand the fuel filter, all the books say they're either Siemens or Bosch which is ballcocks but the pollen filter? There can be only one. Not sure about the sump washer but they had a 50/50 shot at that one

Complain bitterly young man, you could even tell them you've moaned about them on a certain French car owner's club forum and see if they respond appropriately or want us to spread the word on

To be honist Captain, there are so many option's of fuel filter it can be bewildering  .
I ordered mine off my vin code & got the wrong one, so went down with the old one as a sample & they exchanged it no prob's.
Also gave me a credit note of £10 for my hassle & fuel :cheesy: .
The lesson I learnt is, I keep a service record with the make & part no's in of all the service item's  .
I find G.S.F. very good but T.B.H I use Eurocarpart's the most as they offer free del on all item's bought of there web site 8) , just make doublely sure there the right part's for minimum hassle

Complain and lay it on thickly, you took the day off work and it was all the wrong stuff etc etc. I'd be happy to get a spare filter or two for the inconvenience.

Uhh...well, all they've done is said send it back to us and we'll refund it. Will take it to a local GSF store so I don't have to pay for return postage.

ECP or eBay next time (never had an issue with eBay!)

Pfft, I suppose it depends on what kind of Branch Manager you happen to get, oh well, you just need to remember all this and shop elsewhere I guess.

Not so long ago most members would say that Dealer-sourced Filters were the best and priced such that it wasn't really worth shopping around. At least you'd get the right stuff.
