One that hasn't had a big shunt would probably be a bonus too.

Cat C isn't an issue.

It's actually a PSA engine although for some reason it has a slightly different CC. But it should in theory be a DW12.

Sam was kind of right, Cat C means it's suffered significant damage but is repairable. After it's repaired it's checked for roadworthy-ness before it can go back on the road. Provided it's been repaired properly it shouldn't be a problem. However, if it's been repaired by someone using their feet like that I don't think I'd ever trust it, not without redoing the repair for my own peace of mind.

Cat C seems to mean "beyond economical repair" (insurance thought it would cost too much to repair) and falls between Cat D (minor damage but insurance wasn't interested in putting it back on the road) and Cat B (car is a disaster, only good for spares). Cat A seems to mean "the car has been terminated, treat as nuclear waste."

Yeah - for the price, the car, the toys, the age, the engine and the mileage, it seems like a good deal. But I would really not be happy with that sort of shoddy paintwork - it's worse than any bit on my Pug

I'd be concerned at the quality of the repair around the windscreen and bonnet...!

I'd walk away - 5-7k even buys a decent X-Type.

What a f*cking shitter! that sort of "repair" reminds me of dodgy car sales in the late 1980's :supafrisk:

There's not a straight panel on that thing and if its done 45K miles I'll eat my Hat

The D5 is a superb engine but there was a problem with the DPF-equipped cars (there's a surprise) in that they would over-fuel and begin to fill the oil sump with Diesel. I'm not sure when this was resolved but avoiding a DPF'er is a good start.

Other than that I suppose you'd expect the same trouble I've had with Ford's delicate sussy but overall they are good quality cars. One thing with the S60 (and all big Volvo's) is the depreciation!

Dare I suggest looking at an Audi A3 fastback? they seem to fit in anywhere and avoid that image, plus they don't seem to 'date' as quickly as other makes these days.

Quite like that one! also like the 'scattering' of service invoices from the seller :)

Did you spot the Tan Piping on the tailored mats? there's attention to detail for you :)

And the eggsauce tippage looks weird?

I'd probably go and visit that one if I was in the market, but it need to be nearer £1400.00?
