my wife is always on my insurance just to keep the price down but never drives my car ,makes no sense to me how two people insured to drive a car is cheaper than one, i changed from a bmw 2004 320d to my 406 hdi s which is a cheaper car to insure but they still insisted on my paying and extra £60 until the end of my insurance year.
cancelling the policy depends on how much no claims you have as you will loose the whole years worth of no claims if you cancel ,you can normally still cancel even if you pay monthly but they may charge you, if you ask them they have to provide you with settlement figure to cancel , i hate insurance company's i've had car insurance for over 20 years and have never claimed so mine should be free

For some reason my quote goes up about £300 a year - followed by a drop of £300 when I tell them they can shove it.....
Best quote for my 2.2 was £230 but that was with Swiftcover. Before you guys take out insurance, check out an ' insurance company review ' site - its quite an eye-opener....

Got mine in the end, for the 306 and the 406, both vehicles can be driven by me 8) or the missus  and it is £550 fully comp.

As Lozz says - gotta haggle..
2003 2.2hdi estate - mine
1998 Volvo 940 auto estate - also mine
2019 Citroen C3 something - the wife's

Me too, I've stuck with Admiral now for quite a few years. Not always cheapest but not far off and easy to understand on the phone.....

You still have to compare them every year, if Admiral decide you're just renewing with them, rather than checking, they're quite likely to hit you up with an extra few hundred quid in the hope you don't notice

Personally I'd avoid Bedford Insurance (a broker) and aviva...

IF and when I get a new car, Miss Pug then goes on a temporary insurance which, work this is out is ONLY for 14 days and is £10 more than my monthly fee  ???

SO, half the cover but more in price?! Eh? That's without adding new car either.

If you google them I can now see why they have such negative feedback. Weirdly when I did price compare it was MQD (Motor quote direct) who came out cheapest and actually took me on, but my policy is now with Aviva and through bedford insurance, WTF went on there I do not know.

It's way above my understanding...

Sonia I think your right.

At the moment it's costing me £150 more a year to Insure the 2.0 HDI than it is my 5.5 V8 AMG - go figure :supafrisk:

Insurance companies just pluck a number from the air I'm sure. :?:
The Rubble Shifter: 2.0 HDi 110 GTX 406 Estate, Tuning Box, K&N Filters.
Thunderbird 4: Mercedes AMG E55, Full Decat & Res Delete.
*New Addition* The Roller Skate: VW Polo GTi

It's because if you looked at the stat's there will have been lot's more claim's involving 406's than 5.5 V8 AMG's due to to amount on the road  , a while back I had a quote on a Audi RS6 avant (4.2 V8 twin turbo estate) 20k's worth £185.00 fully comp
2002 110 HDi estate, Rapier in monaco blue! ( found quite a bit more power :cheesy: ) SOLD I've sorted the airbag light :cheesy:
1998 3.0 V6 SE coupe in Diablo Red ( my baby ) sold
2006 206 1.4 16v sport in Aegean blue ( wife's shopping trolley  )

2006 BMW e61 535d m-sport :supafrisk: run's for cover

Wot, like this one? viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5387&p=52430&hilit=Audi+RS6#p52430

I hope it's not because there are more Pugs on the road, if they don't do it as accidents/cost of repair as a percentage of actual cars on the roads then they crooks. Oh

I know which car I'd prefer to pay for the repairs on, if they think Audi's parts come cheap compared to Pugs they don't live on the same planet I do.

Tell you what, if one day it comes out that some car manufacturers are giving back-handers to Insurance co.s in order to make their cars more attractive to buyers I wouldn't be at all surprised.

Wonder what all the executives at Lloyds drive...

WOW, , that's a special edt steve, anyway I think you misunderstood me. There must have been 10's of thousands of claims involving 406's of all types compared to AMG merc's & RS6 Audi's ect.

That's not what I meant either, ok there have been maybe 10s of thousands of claims involving 406s but what ratio of cars insured is that? Say there are 50,000 406s (I have no idea of the real figure), 10,000 of which have had insurance claims made on them - that's 20%. Meanwhile there are say 500 RS6s, 250 of which have been damaged by over-enthusiastic driving - that's 50%. Do the insurance co.s look at these figures and say "my god 10,000 406 owners have made claims, we'd better load up their insurance" while when they look at the RS6 figures they say "oh, only 250 cars, that's nothing compared to those dangerous 406s, we'd better give them cheap insurance"? Or do they look at the percentage of cars and factor in the cost of repairs, like you'd think would be sensible?

Btw I'm told the way they work out the premiums in Croatia is more to do with the original list price and power output (and completely ignore stuff like depreciation  ) than how many idiots would drive a certain Germa... sorry, make.
