Just mind what you do with the entrails, it's toxic stuff, and the fluid will take the skin off of your hands...

Re: I JUST BOUGHT A NEW CAR!!!!
I must admit I will be quite possibly employing a mobile mechanic to do the exhaust and what not... I'd love to do it BUT.... well... I can't at the moment

Re: I JUST BOUGHT A NEW CAR!!!!
Congratulations
You're definitely of the the in crowd now with a 2.2
Turbo
is clamped to
flexi section
is welded to
cat
is bolted to
dpf
is clamped to
mid section
is clamped to
back box
(I think Jon posted the diagrams.)
I'd keep the cat+dpf unit so that it appears all to be in tact. Even if you go for a straight through, I'd keep it just in case...
Otherwise, it should be pretty much ship shape.

Thanks for that explanation, as you can see I've been getting myself a tad confused

You looked at the car Richard, do you think it needs new flexi part? Also, do you think it needs a new middle section and back box? I know he's said that all three need doing..........

Re: I JUST BOUGHT A NEW CAR!!!!
In the pics, it looked like the middle pipe was a goner and the eBay advert stated the back box had failed too. I would change them & knock the FAP out. That's probably all you need to do.
Removing the cat element would be damn near impossible without taking the housing from the car to do it and in my experience it doesn't make a blind bit of difference, (other than making the exhaust fumes smell like a 1960's double decker). Your flexy may well be alright, but equally might not survive the unecessary trauma of bashing out the cat element too. If it turns out the flexy is leaking you've lost nothing as all the bits will separate again easily if need be.
Mine still has it's cat and seems go not too badly, by all accounts.

Thanks Doggy, Can't I just un-bolt the DPF, and get a friend to weld up?Doggy wrote:In the pics, it looked like the middle pipe was a goner and the eBay advert stated the back box had failed too. I would change them & knock the FAP out. That's probably all you need to do.

Here is mine when off the car recently.
