That's pretty horrific  Then the attitude is a bit different here, cats do a job and if anything goes wrong with them there are plenty more. They never get to the couch either. I suppose we're the odd ones really, but then I'm English - what's your excuse? :P

:cheesy: I've got 1 cat that does this, chews cardboard boxes into tiny pieces. She also tries to get into any bag whatever it is - I was fixing my sister-in-law's vacuum cleaner last week, I put the bag out of it on the floor and she chewed her way into it in a few seconds - Why? All there is in there is dog hairs and dust!

I can well understand how your grandmother could end up with so many cats, I could so easily end up with 25 myself. Or 250. And as many dogs.

And the bad news is.... every now and then I can hear a faint meeew but I can't work out which way it's coming from. Oh crap :(

Different country mate, she probably does it like that because she can't bring herself to drown them in a bucket or wring their necks. Not that I approve or anything, it's just there are some very poor people here.

However, if she got a kick out of doing that I'd quite happily put her in a bag...

Anyway, guess what?

Cat V is here  It was almost inevitable, I got back from my mate's house to more mewing and found him where I put him yesterday, with a suspiciously familiar looking bowl next to him. Apparently my wife's students brought him in so she put him back there with some food. The next thing we know he's at the gate mewing plaintively - "How does this go again? We need a box and a litter tray and..." I've had to name him George to stop my wife calling him Dave :frown:

Appalogies for the crap mobile phone pics.

Andnhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh now he's on my keyboard

Yes, treatment of cats (and other animals in general) leaves a lot to be desired in places like Russia. When I came over here 20 odd years ago, I was quite surprised that there were no stray animals on the streets at all. This is a huge contrast to Russia... and I am guessing Croatia. Saddening to see but.... what can you do..

On a happier note, I am going to see Cats the musical tomorrow.

It's hard to type with a kitten sleeping on your arm (he really did climb up the chair, walk across the keyboard and curl up on my arm - he's found me again, I must be "it" )

They don't get them - they can't afford to spay their existing female cats so have a ton of kittens. And what do you do with those kittens........

idont see the problem with them, they cost very little to feed.
we got our old cat off some dozey woman off the internet, preloved ithink it was,
free too good home -needs to be rehomed this week or will be p.t.s at the vets,
it was 14 week old, we didn't want a cat /kitten at the time, but ended up travelling 50-60 miles
its lived in the garage ever since, eats anything and is not arsed aslong as hes warm and dry,

surely most of these people that fling them out have a shed of some sort,

Yes they eat scraps and aren't necessarily expensive to keep (unless they're spoiled like some cats I know  ) but then there's sterilising them, I know it only costs 40 quid to have a queen spade here but some people haven't got that much hanging about. You had one cat, now you have 6 - and your next move is?

I got myself a kitten during the summer off gumtree to deal with the mice issue, it seems to have kept the mice away, although it did have a bad habit of laying brown mines around the house especially in places you would never think of such as behind the sofa, or washing machine.
Its ok now thankfully, though its white and it sheds hair every time it rubs up against something.
