Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Drivers door electric window problem

Post by SteveyD »

Hi all,

Got a small problem with my drivers door window switch/motor etc -it still works in a manner but the "one touch" operation has gone - you have to hold it down to get the window down, but when going back up the window keeps stopping so you have to keep pressing the switch to close the window.

My question is whether the problem is the switch itself, a relay somewhere or a fuse. Its just started happening (after the battery had been disconnected) so havent had a chance to whip it out or anything yet but I'm hoping someone has expereinced this before and can tell me what I need to replace -ebay here I come!

Cheers,

If the battery's been disconnected, you'll need to set the window so it knows where the top is. To do this, I think you have to put the window down fully, then hold the "up" button until it reaches the top, then keep holding it for another 5 or 10 seconds. I can't remember, but you may have to do this with the engine off. Try it both ways until it works.

You need to "reset" the window....I think you just have to open in fully (in one go) then close it fully, then open it fully then close it fully again then it should work properly....I had it too and I think that's how I fixed it...

Thats the first problem I've had with the 6 hope it isn't the start of things to come.

The bloody thing works fine when the engine is off.

Maybe i'm just doing it wrong, or does it sound like it could posibly be something else?
