Can I pick your brains? (Coming to a stop, bad idle)

Problem 1)

Okay, so I have noticed these recently on Pugster. At the moment just noticed it in the particular cold weather and especially develop until the engine is up to temperature..


Coming to a stop (either coasting or clutch down with a gear engaged) the car shakes and judders, it feels like it is in gear, clutch is lifted and about to stall - it feels exactly like that. Revs drop to only 500rpm and as I say, it judders viciously.

Other half has suggested it's a vacuum hose leak, but how would I know where to look to rule this out?
Anyone else had similar?

HORN, can anyone point me in the direction of the horn contact clean up thread, I have completely lost it..


Problem 3)
I have noticed the oil temperature goes above 90, is there a point where I should ease off? What's the normal running temperatures for these engines? (2.2 HDi)

Problem 4)
Why would anyone replace the steering rack and not the bloody gaiters....... both are shot to pieces..... and literally hanging off

2) This is the horn earth contact in the steering wheel that caused endless problems on the 307, I think the 406 has the same thing: http://www.glodark.com/peugeot-307-horn.htm

3) My oil usually sits between 90-100C, never seen it go over 100C.

(1) EGR? My 406 was a complete bitch to drive cold until I disabled it.

(3) On the 406 the oil would sit at 90 on a gentle run, but normally was over, needle just left of straight-up. The 407 is always over 90. The oil temperature will vary quite a bit depending on how hard the engine is working. The water, on the other hand, should get up to 90 and then stay there, and you need to be very worried if the water goes over 90! Oil is fine though.

Hmm... do we think the EGR could cause that though? Did you get the same symptoms as what I described?

I can't be sure now but I am sure the water hasn't moved from 90 but the oil definitely went over 90... not sure how far now.. but thought I'd heard at Haynes all temperatures shouldn't be going over the 90 mark... I totally misheard I know now
You know when you came to look at it though Rwb that the oil is fairly thick and needs doing, this would I am sure make it rise higher in temperature anyway?
