Picasso HDi stuttering?

Post by leestudd30 »

Hi all. With the weather getting colder, my Picasso always takes longer to start from cold. But yesterday it nearly cut out after just starting it while I was trying to reverse out of my space at home. It seemed like the revs dipped very low about 3 times, put the clutch pedal down and it did keep running and the idle settled to normal. When I pulled out of the car park it seemed very sluggish in first for a few seconds, its not normally that laggy though I know its certainly no ball of fire either! Its had a new MAF and air filter in the last 2-3 months. I wondered if its because of the cold or just being typically french! It was driven the day before but only for a short distance, thought this might have made things worse too.

Are these additives actually worth it though? Lot of negative comments on the net about Millers and Redex, found a Which article which tested a dozen of them with no noticeable difference, recommended a 50mile drive to clear the cobwebs instead.

If it starts ok, but hesitates for the first half minute, could be a glowplug problem.

Ifind the Snake oils, work, iwouidnt use them longterm tho  lowers the M.p.g abit ithinks,
but if ive got a car that's running abit ropey I fire it in, or just before M.o.t time.
Anything that increases the cetane rating will have a benefit
ithink most diesels need a good clear-out now and then,
