At some point when its dry I'll be removing the DPF on the other halfs 307 for a jet wash and was wondering whether to de-cat while I'm there?
It does mainly town miles hence the dirty DPF and the MPG's are down on where it should be even after DPF cleaning.
Hopefully removing the cat will increase MPG's (assuming it restricting flow) and the turbo should spool a little earlier to give it a bit more go.
Feel free to shoot me down here?
My question is will the BSI throw a wobbler with the cat hollowed out on a 1.6 HDI engine ?
The DPF is being cleaned and not removed which may or may not make a difference with standard mapping?

Leave the cat alone and defap it instead. Knock the innards of the dpf out and get someone (doggy?) to remove the dpf from the ecu.

At least not unless you're removing the FAP too. You need the cat to generate enough heat to regenerate the FAP. The system works by using the eolys additive to reduce the temperature at which the soot trapped in the FAP will burn, (additive reduces it from 500 to 450 degrees), then it increases the exhaust temp as much as possible by, among other things, injecting extra fuel on the exhaust stroke, which burns in the cat to generate the temperature needed, creating what amounts to a horizontal chimney fire.
I would seriously look into ridding yourself of the financial timebomb this lunatic system represents.

Thanks for the responses, I did look into removing the DPF but this engine appears to be a peculiar set up and no-one had a map available. Quotes from remapping companies came in around the £500 mark!!!

If you can get it done any cheaper, then I'd say lose the lot. Cat's, EGR's, DPF's. All nasty pointless things that limit the engine's performance and lifespan.
