Right so this new car has many fan-dangled stuff going on inside of it...
Getting to grips with most of it, though had to be shown about the memory seats yesterday
Anywayyyyy... on the A pillars is the alarm sensor what nots. I know the button in the middle should disable the motion sensor.
Question is: Should that button stay down as far as the heated seats button? (Mine doesn't stay down)
How do I know if the motion sensor is activated or deactivated? Or is that a practical test
I think you have to lock the car within a short period of pressing the button for the ultrasonic motion sensors to stay disabled. I'm never sure, so lock the car with the door lock, (which completely disables the alarm), if I ever leave the dogs in there.
Having forgotten one or twice, I'm now fairly sure the motion sensors don't "reach" as far as the boot.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
On my D9 Coupe, you have to depress the button within a few seconds of switching off and withdrawing the key otherwise the press doesn't get recognised.
The red led will show solid, not flashing , as it does when the alarm is armed, to indicate that the ultrasonics have been disabled.
Yes that's right. Just locking without deadlock leaves the alarm disabled.
Never come across the 4 second thing, but I do know that the press has to be within a certain time window or it gets ignored.....
Another thought - at Prescott, we proved pressing the lock button on the r/c put the deadlocks on, (later full mux cars at least), pressing it a second time removed the deadlocks, but leaves it locked. Maybe this disables the sensors or even the alarm.
Guess it needs testing.......

Ok... I will get Dave to try this out later for me....

If you put your drivers window down, you can test it.
One press deadlocks the doors and sets the alarm ( try opening your door from inside, through window, it won't open)
Two presses in quick succession releases the deadlocks ( after first locking them ) so you can open the car from inside and I think the alarm is also deactivated?
To test your alarm, press the lock button on your fob with one door open. If you close the door then open it again the alarm sounds iirc.

I can't lock the car with a door slightly open, it sounds one beep and tells me to sort myself out
Yesterday I did pull the drivers window down and locked it and waved an arm in to try the sensors and on both locks it didn't sense movement and go off... (Unless there's a set period after it's locked it then looks for movement?)
I forgot to try the door handle to test the dead-locking of it all
Someone mentioned a red flashing light to warn the alarm is armed etc - where is this light usually?
Anyone elses drivers wing mirror go absolutely berserk when the car is unlocked?
My drivers mirror goes mental when I turn ignition on, it first goes out to point at the sky and just whirrs away for 10 seconds or so, I can't move the mirror until it stops and sorts itself out....
