I'm not sure how much we can talk about this on here with legalities and stuff but does anyone have one of these?

Don't even think about it - I am very well clued up on satellite viewing (I have 8 satellite dishes, 3 of which are in use, with the rest stacked up in the garage :supafrisk:). If you want reliable viewing, get a proper sub. These people will run away with your money leaving you with nothing.

Sky is in the process of making encryption changes, so everything could be switched off tomorrow. There's a reason why they are forcing people to switch to newer HD boxes from their old Thomson ones....

with whats on offer now adays idont think theres real need of these Homer simpson style get free tv kinda things.

The now tv -small box jobs sound a good deal..

my father in law has got one never works when he phoned up to complain the guy who sold said he would report my in law

Yes they do work, it all depends on where you get your 'gift' subscription from to how reliable it is.

That box is quite a basic one, i've use the non-3D version of it and you could record what was live onto usb, but no scheduling and only EPG info that was broadcast via the channel.

The good ones are Engima2 based boxes, either twin or even triple tuners, built in HDD etc

If you are after something for 3pm football which is what half of them advertise as the 'gifts' are more expensive, you would need a large dish to pickup more extreme satellites and a motorised systems
