ran into this the other day
does anyone know what this was attached to? its located with the other major ecu attachments
don't know what this attaches too but the original owner obviously didn't want a code to go off so added a resister to the connectorWhat would this be?

Can you peel back the black insulator/shroud thingy and read any numbers off from the cores?

Re: What would this be?
The only 2 wire connector I have in that area is for the fuel vapour purge electrovalve. It could be a standard part of the loom and your particular car doesn't have that feature

Re: What would this be?
possible.... but why would the PO jam a resistor in the connector. knowing how things work in the Dom. Rep. probably the cheapest way to fix the faulty purge valve is to put a resistor in the connector so the light on the dash doesn't come on
thanks for letting me know what it is

Re: What would this be?
Actually, I'd forgotten about the resistor
, so as you say, it could have been put in there to fool the ecu into thinking it's still present. (if, indeed, that's what it is!)

Re: What would this be?
You could remove the resistor and see what fault code appears?
(I don't necessarily recommend doing this
)

Re: What would this be?
I can't think of anything else it could be. Perhaps the ecu and harness are from another car with a similar engine (not necessarily a 406)?markw wrote:The only 2 wire connector I have in that area is for the fuel vapour purge electrovalve. <steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
