406 buying advice

Post by lozz »

Hi all
iwasnt planning on buying one.but last night ispotted a 03 reg 406 estate for sale.
very tidy 9mths mot tax end jan.
2.0 110hdi. seems cheap so ithought id have alook 600 quid its got the extra seat in the back too and its sat on a nice set of Nimrods.

but on tick over sounds rather Tappy (top end) runs well tho

what do you rekon ? leave it where its is or couid it be a easy fix?

Is that injector tappy or cam/valve/rocker? If it's injector it depends on whether you can put up with it or change them cheaply. If it's really top end I'd run away waving my arms in the air like a girl.

Im thinking injector's not sure
its not realy noisy but it don't sound like the hdi shouid do.
Mileage seem's low but ididnt /couidnt get access to vin /log book ref etc so carnt check if accurate.
imight just ask again later.see if they will disclose it.

In the vid it sounded like there was some rattling/squeaking from the gearbox end but >I've not heard one going so I'm no expert.

The injectors on mine rattle like buggery, I have a spare set but I'm loathed to change them as they'll soon sound just the same due to the lousy crap that passes for fuel here.

Doesn't sound too bad to me....noisy aux belt mostly.

An oil and filter change as well as the other filters would be my first job.
