Believe it or not that was on that barn find facebook thingy but thought it deserved a thread all of it's own.
2.8i used to be my fav... God knows why I never drove one no that should be [/quote]
In my former driving days a had 1 x 2.0s,1 x 2.3s,2 x 3.0s's and a 2.8i,they were cracking cars albeit very tail happy, you could fix them with a basic toolkit and only the 2.8i was a bit more complex but still not rocket science.Wish I had a 3.0s now.I forgot,i even had a white John Player Special (jps) 1.6 for a short time, very rare now.

Yeah they was tail happy.
atrip to B&Q for some bags of sand was the way
Yep, they had a tail-happy reputation. That and the traditional Ford rust bucket... I would have thought bags of sand would have made them worse, unless there was so much sand the tyres were sinking into the tarmac...
Oddly enough, Capris are on my very long list of cars I've never owned nor ever wanted to.
The track control arm bushes used to go soft and that gave you the most horrendous steering wobble under braking but easily fixed for a few quid, the best mod was to fit 4 pot calipers from and Austin Princess to the front discs and then you could actually stop the damn things.

irember the ford Tina's being fun to drive with them fubard
Void bushes were on the top of the diff....I still have the tool for replacing void bushes
Track control arm bushes were rubber and fitted in the track control arm ....the anti roll bar fitted through them.

Mk1 & Mk2 Tina's had basically the same setup (macpherson strut) if I remember right but from then on they had wishbone/subframe set up,you could always tell if the bushes were knacked by driving very slowly forward and braking, the front wheel would move back about 2 inches!

Used to check track control arm bushes by pulling the wheel forward and back or putting a breaker bar and socket on a wheel bolt and pulling down on it...I still use the breaker bar method to check lower wishbone bushes.

That'll be the valve stem seals, they made a tool whereby you could bring the piston up to TDC and lever against the cam and take the valve springs off and change the seals in situ, they also used to eat cams for a hobby when the spray bar clogged up.
