Thanks for that advice - IN the event Miss Pugs battery that'll be transplanted into Pugster to be charged up etc - goes flat, is it possible Miss Pug can jump Pugster? There isn't much difference in the engine sizes etc?
Thanks

Hmm, does it idle OK normally? It should sit at 750rpm (air conditioning off) and not hunt. If it's not idling smoothly in general, I'd be tempted to suspect a stuck open EGR valve.Sonia406 wrote:I don't really notice any leak until I am coming to a stop, completely lose my revs, they drop down to the 500 if not lower mark, feels like it's about to stall!

Idles ok normally yeah, just as we are coming to a stop, I think I have narrowed it down to - when the engines cold...jonsowman wrote:Hmm, does it idle OK normally? Is the temp gauge behaving? A dodgy coolant temperature sensor (CTS) has been known to cause these symptoms as well.
You shouldn't have any problems started the HDi with the petrol's battery, might require a couple more turns on the starter before it fires if the cold cranking current is lower (look for a number on the battery like 660 CCA).
Ahhh, then we have our diagnosis, crap batterygrasmere59 wrote:I don't think 550 cca will be any good,i tried one on my old Rapier and in the cold weather it cranked over really slow and it was a bugger to start.

Well... I think I agree.. battery is same size as the original, though I can't see the CCA written on the original and chances are the french translation of CCA is probably something different anyway!trufflehunt wrote:I had a look here...

to check the right battery for my car. It came up with 2.., a 570 CCA and a 600 CCA.
The battery in my car has no CCA marking. I voltage tested it recently , and it was in 'average' condition.
No problems then or now in starting.
I also have an almost new 550 CCA battery that had only a few months use before I scrapped my pug 106.
When I tested it in my 406 a few weeks ago, the car starts up fine, loads of power in the battery, and
feels generally healthier than the one in there already.
Kind of feel that CCA power is not the root of the problem for the original poster, unless
the battery is actually faulty.
I had to replace the battery on my '7 a week after buying it as it was barely turning over in the mornings, until it wouldn't turn over at all.rwb wrote:They recommend 670CCA and 720CCA for the DW12.
Wonder what mine is as it takes a rather pathetic 5 cranks to wake it up sometimes.
