Remote central locking/ignition accessories position

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

To further muddy the waters the damn thing has now started working perfectly again with none of the above mentioned problems AT ALL!

Whilst I'm pleased that it is working for the time being this makes it next to impossible to trace the fault until it shows it's ugly face again. :(

An interesting thing that I noticed when the car seemed to "re-set" itself and start working again - the service schedule miles registered as zero when I turned the ignition on this morning (before it started working again) and I thought "oh gawd, here is another problem". With the car working perfectly again now the service schedule is showing the same number of miles that it was before.

Most odd.

That's not a big problem, sometimes mine shows 765892635 km and Blinking lolol <- something more or less like that xD but right away in the next screen it shows the correct mileage.

But the problems you were having it's like the car had no power after you remove the key from ignition, i suspect it's the eletronic part of the ignition barrel, mine last week stopped working the air blower and cruise control, and found out to be a problem with ignition barrel that isn't giving power to a certain cable that connects to a certain part of the fuse box and gives power to some fuses.

Tomorrow i'm going to fix it since there's a workaround for this kind of problem.

Is there any chance you could share what the workaround for this problem is, please? :)

My problem may not be related to yours, the workaround starts with getting power from another ignition cable to the other ignition cable that isn't receiving power. You should check if all the ignition contacts/cables are working properly.

Solution found!

A previous owner had fitted a switch to isolate the ignition once it was switched off. Unfortunately the position of the switch was hidden from view but not so hidden that my leg didn't catch it from time to time as I was getting in/out of the car.

Thanks for everyones help and I hope this thread manages to give other people ideas if they encounter similar problems!

Rusty. :)
