200 vs 180 maps

Post by gumby6371 »

My car came with the 200 map but today I swapped it for the generic 180 version thanks to Doggy.

Not had much chance to test it yet but on my usual Sunday evening trip taking the kids back to their moms and a blast down the dual carriageway on the way back it was soooo much nicer to drive!!!

It still has the anti pollution message but the power is much more user friendly.
Don't get me wrong it still wanted to turn my front tyres to smoke when I booted it in 3rd but with 'normal' driving the boost came earlier and more progressively making it less likely to throw you off the road if you hit a greasy patch under hard acceleration.
Happier at low revs in higher gears and seemed to have less lag.
Another bonus is I should gain a couple of MPG's, first tankful with me hooning about got me 33.5MPG if I can get around 37 I'll be using the same amount of fuel as my 1.9XUD gave me. Just need to stop 'playing' with the loud pedal and clean what I suspect is a dirt MAF sensor.

On the subject of fuel usage I had a bit of a scare when I got the 'you have no fuel' message on Thursday with only 407 miles on the trip, went straight to the pump and could only squeeze 54 litres in, much relief was felt in my wallet and a reminder to treat the live fuel data as a 'best guess' :cheesy:

i would be very surprised if the 200 map actually give you 200bhp i have never heard of any diesel getting such a huge increase from just a map that is 64bhp over standard, most maps will only give around 30/40 bhp
i bet it's more likely the 200 map is giving a huge wedge of low down torque which makes it feel faster than the 180

When reading the Coupe forums, I believe the general BHP is around 160 from the 180 map, and maybe 180 from the 200 map.

I'm glad you chose the 180, the 200 is fun but 180 is a much more user friendly.
