You know what, I was in a long line of traffic doing only 10mph on Monday morning. Out of no where this stupid stupid Ford Fiesta (ford drivers eh?) over took loads of us (narrow, country road) and pushed in in front of the car in front of me!
The lady in front of me shrugged her shoulders and hand went up to say WTF as did I, if I had a working HORN I would of bleeped the ****.

I must admit I overtook a Saab 95 convertible yesterday but for goodness sake he was only doing 50mph on a national limit - and I had somewhere to be  :supafrisk:

Iwas driving wifes car the otherday, realised it was pulling to the right.
found safe place to pull over and front tyre looked like it had about 10psi in it,
so ithought sod it iwill crawl the car home, 20mph -ish(wheel brace and spare wheel is in garage)

on the way back igot a parcel monkey van, being a p.i.t.a he ended up overtaking and nearly wiped out an old man on otherside of road,
(30mph road)

not everyone drives slow because they wants too, there might be summat wrong with car. :(

Right.

I'm guessing that if you were coming down the A1 in Northumberland, you hit the camera at either Morpeth (Hebron.)or Belford, (If you estimate that you were about 80 miles from Auld Reekie.) both of which are standard Gatsos, and are of the rear facing variety. Gatsos flash twice when they are set off. Truvelo cameras are the one with the red lens in them and can be forward or rearward facing. As for film in Gatsos, the camera partnerships are moving towards digital Monitron cameras, so no film in these, but some camera partnerships have admitted that the Gatsos with film do get rotated.

The police have to raise an NIP, (Notice of intended prosecution.) within 14 days of the offence being committed, however if it takes 6 months to reach you, then that is irrelevant, it's the 14 days that's important here. You are then duty bound to return the form within 28 days stating who was driving at the time. Failure to do so is a further offence, and can net you a £1000 fine and 6 points.

For those of you that have sat nav, then if you haven't already done so, subscribe to the PGPSW camera database for your unit. The annual cost could be a saving in the long run, but if your like me and fortunate enough, then as a lifetime member and verified spotter, you get it free. http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/

Finally guys. Don't blame the truck driver for doing 40mph on a single carriageway. That's all we are allowed to do legally. In this day and age of far superior truck design, the limits need changing to reflect this. More accidents are caused by impatient car drivers not realising that the truck driver is only obeying the law, and go shooting past into oncoming traffic.

No. They have to issue it within 14 days, but in the main, they usually don't hang about and want to get it sent out.

The thing is with camera databases, they can't tell you that a camera is live as they are a GPS device so can only tell you the location, however the TomTom one does give a 3 hour slot of a mobile camera before it disappears, once reported via the live services if you have it.

This thread is dragging a bit, innit! At least we're now reasonably confident that was a Gatso and I still think that Alberto was on the "wrong" side of the road whilst overtaking (can you confirm this Al?) so driving towards a rear-facing camera.
http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/gatso.htm wrote:Can Gatsos catch you speeding on the opposite side of the road?

The Gatso meter speed camera is a rear facing camera and as such can only succesfully obtain a vehicles speed when driving past the Gatso. In other words if a Gatso speed camera is on the opposite side of the road and is pointing towards you it cannot record or catch you speeding. However be sure you're driving towards a Gatso and not the forward facing Truvelo camera as these are designed to work as a motorist drives towards them! It's also worth noting that Gatso's which are installation on a central reservation of traffic island can be turned periodically to target motorists traveling in either direction.
Safe.

i'm always amazed by the amount of people who don't realize that a hgv can only legally do 40mpg on a single road.

Yes, since my TomTom has been "cough" updated it's very good with the cameras especially on the M1/M42 when it gives me 400 yards notice to slow down... Shame their on every other bloody bridge on some of it though.
