white stirngy bit

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I take it by your description of the white stringy bit you mean the ribbon cord, . You need to read steve earwigs post on com 2000 a how not to & a how to, I found both of these very usefull.
Just a note from my own findings on removing the com 2000, you don't need to take apart the top bit that holds the ribbon cord  , you can remove this as one peice.
Well thats what I found on my model anyway & I will post my pic's soon.

Good lord, I was wondering what this was about (briefly, then I got distracted...). No you don't have to take the reel out, it's not that clear I guess but I didn't know how to take it apart and I wasn't too fussed how I found out. Perhaps I need to edit the how not to...

How are you getting on with this? Did you take it somewhere in the end? If you still need help and it's a com200 I can walk you through it using what's left of mine.

Ribbon Cord indeed. thanX for the clarifaction.
I should of taken a photo. In the end I just coiled it up sent it off.To Mr Graeme Hill from Bradford. from an Ebay link I found on here.
After a few hours soldering up the BROWN & BLUE Connectors [ 99% of faults cured by doing this] thanx farmer pug & BSI reset.I was pretty sure
the airbag light would go off but NO such luck.
The comms unit came of 306 estate & the HORN did not work at all.i was unaware that the comms unit controlled it. Mr Hill says he can fix it & the fun bag light .
I think the idea of the Ribbon cord having 90 degree angles in it. is to stop it falling on itself. thats my theory anyway. But what does it do.
ThanX for your help ..Dix
