Idle speed
Can anybody help me with this? My old 406 hdi 90bhp (250kmiles) sounds quite rough when idling which on this car is 800rpm but when revved slightly to 1000rpm it sounds sweet, what sort of job is it to adjust the idle speed?

Re: Idle speed
Is this a recent thing as it may simply be down to the colder weather.
If you had an XUD engine I'd say the cold start mech was stuck but as I've only owned my HDI for less than 2 months I'm not even sure if the HDI has one.
You could try tightening up the throttle cable to bring the idle speed up a touch.

Re: Idle speed
I suspect the ecu will compensate for that (my 2.1TD's did) and maybe even raise a fault

Re: Idle speed
Thanks for replys - it's been doing it for some time, it doesn't matter what the weather's like.
