Our company is small, there's 2 management (me being one) and between 4 and 12 fitters depending on how much work we have, at the moment we're quiet. The company that owes this money is very large but will not do BACS! we pay all our creditors and the Men's wages by BACS in fact all our other Customers pay us by BACS too, just not this one.
£35K by post is not unusual in business in fact to this customer that's a small amount, it didn't arrive yesterday so lets see what today brings. As others have said it is a convenient way to stall for time if they themselves are waiting for money to come in too, in this case they've 'gained' a week and a half so far by us not banking this Gregory Peck

Sorry to hear that welly, we to have the same probs only 12 of us at my place of work. T.B.H it's a classic case of big company cash flow problems so stall the little guy for time,
also at my last company we had quite a few BIG companys fold on us & we didn't get a penny as the biggest crediters get there slice of pie first.
