Got burgled!

Post by Captain Jack »

This morning, I found my garage door wide open with its contents thrown around. Had a quick look but didn't see much missing except the old car audio amp and some crappy speakers...

All the tools seem to be in place and so are all the dishes stacked against a wall.

This is all as a result of me leaving my garage door unlocked (idiot) but I didn't think we'd get burgled in such a low-crime area where we live.

A$$holes....

Opportunist I'd say and probably didn't really know what they wanted. Still sh*t for you though the bastards :frown:

You might want to think about an additional lock just to put the casual thief off.

Make sure you report to the Police.

bloody hell mate, sorry to hear that, :(

we had abreak in about 4mth ago, someone got into the granny flat at side of house cleared it out of anything worth anything
plasma tv off wall, etc.

police wouidnt do anything as it was a unused property and as no access to living accommodation so treated it as a break in from a shed basicly.

Yes, it's very annoying. Filled out an online form on the police site, though doubt they'll do anything!

Definitely opportunists. What's more worrying is that I sometimes genuinely forget to lock my car, so I need to be extra vigilant to ensure that I *do* lock it.

Gutted for you mate, just lucky nothing expensive disappeared.

My other half is paranoid about locking up at night so we normally do a tour of the front and back doors when we go off to bed. Unfortunately I have quite often searched high and low for the shed key only to find it still sitting in the lock, likewise with my car key still in the ignition. As my first D8's plip didn't work I even managed to lock it and leave the key in the lock!

Sorry to hear that CJ. Still, lesson learned and all that, plus it doesn't look like it was an expensive lesson like it could have been.

You need to get yourself into some habits, I still have the urge to lock everything the moment I leave it even though opportunistic crime of this nature is very rare here.

ithink everyone must be more careful,

the crime rate is going to end up Massive thanks to mr Cameron,. :(

with garages and things, Cheap alarm,/ camera and some cupboards with locks on might help,. (ask local cop shop for free Smartwater kit)

don't leave nothing in sight, ive learnt this in the past, when people walking past whilst my garage door is open they always have a good nosey
might just be general nosey/honest person but I trust no one, from joe public,

A few months back to see what's going on around here i added South Wales Police to my facebook groups and since then everything gets locked, i was a sod for leaving the car unlocked during the day but you'd be surprised what going on at all times... They post any break in's on there or things like this poor bloke near me in September couple of lads offered to cut his grass but while one of them was doing that the other forced entry and took the poor sod to the cleaners... (hope they've found the bastards)

CJ the one thing they say a lot on there is lock up, People who think their not at risk are the ones getting done.

MR Rees if you ain't done so already add them because any dodgy sh*t going on in our area is reported on there daily.

Sorry to hear this CJ!

I've lived in this house nearly 2 years and I still haven't secured my garage... and it doesn't even sit down properly so anyone who looked at it could see it's not properly shut.
Spiders live in there so I am reluctant to sort it out (there's loads of junk in there, mostly parts off Miss Pug) and some tyres, some alloys, a lawnmower, typical garagey type stuff!

Sorry to hear this Alex, I'm glad nothing hugely valuable or important was stolen though.

That reads like a personal invitation to burglary.

Sorry to hear this Alex and not trying to worry you but make sure its all locked up properly from now on, they may have had a good look around and come back with a vehicle etc to get the heavier tools etc that they've now seen. hopefully just kids that wont bother, but you can't be sure.
