Stilo 1.9JTD non starter???

Post by gumby6371 »

Sister in laws dash died a few weeks back and now it cranks but wont start.
Does anyone know if the ignition area affects the dash on fiats?
I'm wondering whether the problems may be linked

She does insist on driving on vapours so there is a very real possibility of a blocked lift pump (if they have one) or diesel filter.

I don't know any real details as I've only just had the text to say its dead and wont start even with jump leads.

My own personal experience of Fiat, (Fix It Again Tomorrow.) or Lancia, (Look, Another Nasty Crappy Italian Automobile) is through their truck arm Iveco, (It Vibrates Everything Comes Off.) and they are full of electronics, and almost as unreliable as French cars.

Have you tried bump start/towing it to see if it will fire?

Could it be an immobiliser problem?

On some of the Fiats you can reset the ECU by turning the ignition on and off 6 times quickly in succession.

Time for mr Fiat head to come in.... Feckin Stilos anyway

Reset the ECU: unplug the battery and leave overnight. Plug again in the morning. Start, let idle for 5 mins, drive off.

Turning but non starter: check the crank sensor, make sure the key is disarming the immobiliser. What lights are on he dash with he key in?
