Suzuki service light reset??

Post by gumby6371 »

As the title suggests does anyone know how to reset the service light on a Suzuki swift?

I think its a 56 plate if that makes any difference

I've never seen a service light on a Suzuki Swift, what does it look like?

If you mean the 'Oil Life' service light? then the Suzuki Forum says this:

(don't know what model this is but they should all be roughly the same)

Use the center button of the DIC and scroll through until you get to the oil life remaining screen. Then push and hold the checkmark button until it resets to 100%. 2007 MY do not always reset the first time. Repeat the procedure until it resets-this may take several tries. There is not a fix to correct this glitch. 08-09 MY work the first try every time. Also I do not recommend following the OLM percentage-it simply runs the oil too long in this engine and will lead to sludge.

I read further on the Suzy forum and someone said: "ignition on; then pump the brake pedal 5 x times" and it seems to work! didn't say anything about standing on one leg with a finger in your ear though.....

Thanks gents as always.

No idea about the cars history etc I was simply asked how to turn the light off (spanner symbol) as its now had an oil change and he didn't want to pay the stealers £70 to turn the light off!

The older one was a saloon and always had better MPG and nicer drive than the newer one which is an estate. Anyway, the estate had a head gasket problem about the same time as I wrecked the saloon so I decided to fit the older nicer engine into the estate which now goes as well as the saloon did. My mate at the garage recons that the newer engine has all sorts of enviromental related things which is why the tax is cheaper but it doesnt go as well. I used to get about 550 miles out of a full tank but with the better engine I get 650.

Also, does anyone know what that flap is for in the air intake just after the airfilter? My older saloon glx didnt have it and the newer estate gtx did.

Anyone got a view on this?
