buzzing from relay, battery draining

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

buzzing from relay, battery draining

Post by de4mant »

Hi all back again after a while after having my 2001 hdi 110 off the road for a while however seem to be having a few new issues namely a buzzing sound after turning the car off battery seems to be being drained over night too, the buzzing stops once I remove this relay how ever I have no idea what its for can any body shed some light? That doesn't look familiar so I'm guessing semi-mux. The diagram is showing me three relays on the engine fuse panel - air horn (got one of those?), starter inhibitor (I suspect that's for an auto 'box - does it start when the relay is removed?) and fog lights (do they work with the relay removed?) It could be condensation inside it doing that, if you can open it up maybe you can dry it out (if it's not a mass of corrosion...). Failing that buy a new one (motor factor's rather than Pug, unless you have money to burn...)

Sorry to clarify I cant find anything obvious thats not working with it out car starts, drives fine and all seems to be working a ok, somewhat to my concern :? that said im assuming its a relay, its was pulled from where i was pointing and was buzzing after the engine is killed and key removed from the ignition

That is a bit odd, yes. I know there's a relay something to do with the alarm there on D8s but... no idea. Any chance of reading the codes off of any of the wires going into it?
