Aftermarket Remote Locking and Alarm 2002 406 GTX HDI Wiring

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Aftermarket Remote Locking and Alarm 2002 406 GTX HDI Wiring

Post by bigjohn333 »

Hey guys,

Only got one key with my car and the remote doesn't work. The locks are now on their way out too either spinning or jamming in the drivers and passengers doorlocks

Will get another blank cut without remote function for safe keeping.

Can't get RCL to work, BSI always comes up with sync error, tried all sorts to resync the key including battery off, nothing in PP2000 to resync.

So I've bought a kit from ebay usual remote with remote start features etc etc.

Need help identifying lock and unlock wiring.

Presumably you want the signal wiring, rather than the motor wiring, yes? The diagrams don't really explain what's going on, I can see the switches (and motors) but it's all a little confusing (especially the codes when I look them up in the key  ) and I've no idea what relationship it'll bear to what you'll actually find. Some locks give me the option of deadlocking, some don't, but I guess we can ignore deadlocking as I doubt your ebay special will deal with that anyway.

6216A : boot opening output
6220b - nothing (6220 : Door closed deadlocking input signal)
6221b - nothing (6221 : Door open deadlocking input signal)
6216 : boot opening output
6290 : Left-hand front lock unlocking info

It looks to me like 6216a is the door open contact, the 2 Bs are deadlocking contacts (which I don't know anything about) then the next two are the lock signal wires that we're interested in here.

f l/h (simple central locking)

6208 : Right-hand front lock unlocking position info
6217a - nothing
6217 : Central door locking info

Again 6208 seems to be the door open contact, without the deadlocking signal wires the other two must be the lock signal wires.

I guess it'll help to know where you plan to splice into the wiring - I don't suppose it matters where you do it and you can use either front door. I reckon what you'll need to do is open it up there and test for the signalling using a multimeter. They're all earth signalling but obviously if you break the circuit at, say, the driver's door a-post it'll loose the earth so you'll have to put one probe in the connector for the earth wire (they always start with an M) and use the other to check for the signals. If you don't break the circuit then I guess you'll have to disconnect the battery (or your meter might not like what it's seeing coming from the BSI  ), although it's usually the central locking that goes tits-up it's probably still worth following the procedure here - viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13431&p=122217&hil ... ry#p122217
