That's quick!
What exactly is the process?
I was under the impression that you had to take months while a solicitor runs up a big bill doing busywork of no consequence?

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Stage one...
You put your offer in and barter a bit until you get your acceptance of offer.
Then you need to get your mortgage in principle and a solicitor lined up. Once you have proved this to the estate agent the house is put up as sold.

Then...
The estate agent will contact the solicitor with the memorandum of sale. He can then start drawing up a contract.
Meanwhile you deal with the mortgage adviser who gets everything sorted (I have all his paperwork here I need to fill in  ).

Once that has been sorted...
You have a date lined up for exchange of contracts. At this point a date is set for you to get the keys!

My estimated date for the exchange of contracts is the 11th March but I can see it being much sooner than that!

0 under £125k
1% from £125k to something, then more as the house gets more expensive
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Typical. Trying to buy a house and after 18 months and 40,000miles the Mondeo throws a lil wobbly. The crank pully and the tensioner went on the way to college this morning. Popped into Ford this afternoon and they agreed that if I pay for the parts they will fit them when they fit the new crank seal and belt and service the car for free! :cheesy: Still £200 for parts though

It's screeming and the tensioner is vibrating about.

In the area the whine is coming from there is a powersteering pump and a tensioner. The whine stays exactly the same when you move the steering, it only changes when the engine speed changes so I'm 100% sure it's the tensioner.

Does sound like a bearing. If it disintegrations and chucks the belt off I guess it won't be as destructive as an HDi but I don't think I'd drive it anywhere... :(

I'm 100% sure it's the bearing on the tensioner. Pretty sh*t really but it'll have to be done!
The lower timing belt has a metal cover and the top timing belt has no connection to the AUX belt so if it did go it would just throw the belt off. But i'd rather it not happen!

Going to lay the car up for the weekend. Take it to Ford on Monday morning.
If they have it for a few days I can always get the train to work... at £23 per day for a return ticket

Nice one, years ago we had a Mitsubeshit FTO and changed one tensioner on the Aux Belt.......SILENCE  and yet it wasn't obvious there was a major problem with it really.
