Hey 406oc!
I just got my Peugeot 406 2.0 HDI Automatic transmission, it is the 2002 model.
I have been driving the car and experiencing a problem with the gearshifting, this is how it is:
I was driving my 406 yesterday, the car is having trouble starting from 0km/h if you give it too much throttle, then the car doesn't pull like its supposed to. And when i go to highers speeds like 90/100km/h for example the car gives a noise like "klonk" and the car is stuck in 3rd gear. It won't go into 4th and it is at really high rpms at highway for example. The S icon and Winter icon is then flashing together when i experience the issue. They will only stop flashing if i turn off and on the car again. The car havent been driving for a long time because it was my grandpa's car, and he died to i got the car. Can it be because there is low level transmission oil or??
Thank you in advance, and sorry for my bad english!!

Re: 2.0 HDI Automatic gearbox problem!
Hi, the IP look-up says you are in Denmark is this correct?
The sport and snow warnings are the gearbox's equivalent of an engine malfunction light, I guess it's also going into its equivalent of "limp home mode" and only giving you one gear, 3rd (I had a Vauxhall Senator that came like that due to a broken selector switch.) I read that sometimes it could just mean that it thinks it's time for an oil change but I don't think so with the symptoms you describe. Can you get any diagnostics done? Peugeot Planet 2000 would be the best bet.
You could also joint the 406 coupé club ( http://www.406coupeclub.org ) as automatic transmissions are far more common on coupés (I think we only have 2 or 3 here) and have a search on there.

I am from denmark yes, i will the other forum then, but today i will check the oil level. I remember it says Automatic Gear Fault when its going into the 3rd gear mode.

I don't know too much about auto boxes, but the oil degrades over time and can cause all sorts of problems. It may be worth changing it. I know a change can transform the drive on a number of makes and models.

Agreed, change the oil (and the filter if it has one) before you do anything else.Rolebama wrote:I don't know too much about auto boxes, but the oil degrades over time and can cause all sorts of problems. I don't know which auto box it is but I did read on the t...coupé club that it counts down until it reaches zero and then puts the fault up, so it'll need resetting with PP2K.
