FS: 2000 D9 HDi90 Rapier Estate *SOLD*

Post by mjb »

Ok so we're looking to sell the wife's HDI90 Estate. It's blue, located ST5 postcode, we want £550. At 192k it's not a new car, but it's got a lot of life left in it.

Good:
* Cambelt about 2000 miles / 1 year ago
* Brakes all sorted last year
* 6 months tax
* Current MOT. Think it's due about April?
* Oil+filter service last weekend. Bar the pollen filter which I forgot to change. It's only a year old though.
* Pretty tidy inside, no tears in the fabric as far as I'm aware
* Bodywork is fairly good for the age/mileage. Not perfect, but nothing major. Don't think there's any dents
* Drives well. Good engine and gearbox. No play in the steering, although feels like it's toe-in a little at the front
* The centre rear seatbelt is intact!
* New top+bottom engine mounts, flexi-joint, cat, and I'm pretty sure the rest of the exhaust is under 2 years old too.
* Does about 48mpg urban :shock:
* Has had an engine cover retro-fit :lol:
* Electrics are good. 2000 D9 so no COM2000 to fail
* HDi90, so not a lot to go wrong! (no dual-mass flywheel, particulate filter, intercooler...)
* No leaks
* Never failed or even struggled to start

Bad:
* The clutch is worn and needs replacing soon. It's not slipping, but it is original and strongly suspect it's down to the rivets
* Handbrake adjuster needs tightening
* Some of the paintwork is iffy. The tailgate spoiler and fuel flap are missing some lacquer, the roof has some scratches and there's some blemishes on the bonnet (only really noticeable when you're looking for them)
* The temperature sensor fan in the roof console is a little noisy. Easy fix, but never bothered the wife
* Sump plug hole has been re-tapped after the original thread was stripped. The replacement actually holds brilliantly despite posts I may have made last summer suggesting otherwise. Turns out the new plug didn't have a washer :roll: Fixed now. Got a replacement sump sat in a box if you want it
* AC leak. Holds gas for a couple of months, but needs new condenser
* The rear washer jet is a bit knackered so restricts flow and you need to hold it for a bit before water comes out.
* You need to close the tailgate with a bit of a slam, else it doesn't latch. Dunno what that is, but it's not been a problem so I haven't looked at it
* Only one key. Wife lost it this afternoon :roll: at least it was >100 miles away from the car and doesn't have any identifying features
* The keyfob is missing the button rubber

I'll try to get some pics sorted this weekend after it gets a hoovering

I know some of that sounds bad, but I'm being completely honest about it because let's face it, it'd look bloody bad me as an admin fobbing one of you off with a lemon :lol: You won't find a more accurately described 406 for sale :cheesy: and if you think about it, it's really not bad at all! :)

Hmmm Stoke isn't very far from me....

Being a 2000 does it fall into the engine size tax bands or emissions?
Any idea on clutch prices? I can get it fitted at mates rates so parts only

I know a couple of people who'd be interested in a cheap reliable motor but it might be a bit big, I'll ask.
It's always useful to no someone with an estate :cheesy:

Sadly it's engine size, so £225/yr

Can get a no-name clutch kit from eurocarparts for £64, but I'd pay for a Luk kit for £88

Big, but cheap solid and it's VERY nice not to have to worry about "will it fit in my boot?"

mjb - sorry for my silly 'Gumtree' response I realise it's not really much use in helping you shift this motor.

What I will say to anyone interested in buying is that mjb is an excellent enthusiast I wouldn't hesitate to buy a motor from him and he's clearly addressed a lot of niggly faults off his own back whereas others would've just left them (engine mounts being the prime example).

Good luck with the sale mate.
