Sold a Duffer

Post by 1drivelikeawoman »

Hi everyone,
I think I have been ripped off, The car I love may turn out to be a duffer. 1. probs with V5, 2. blue smoke on initial starting, 3. After being left 2 days battery flat and neighbour says that lights been going off and on 24hrs a day. :( :(
I paid over a grand (too much) and I cant drive it.
I am gonna call the garage Monday, get them to pick it up and give me a refund.
But I will be looking for a 406 2.2 hdi executive estate preferably with a towbar and nearish to Dorset.

Regards
Rob. :(

Hi Rob, I hope the garage can sort out either a refund, or fix the faults.
The V5 is not really the cars fault, the blue smoke may just be oily intercooler pipes and the battery / lights could be a wet footwell issue. Don't forget I can diagnose or read faults for you if you need it.
None of these faults - I call it 'character' - are major issues although if you can get a refund then thats probably a good deal.

Always worth looking for electricals that stay on when they shouldn't, my boot light is permanently on due to a duff tilt switch, for now I just pulled the bulb as there was a noticeable sluggishness to start if it stood for a while. Will visit the breakers when it gets warmer and drier!
Not saying that's your problems but you get the idea, can be a very simple thing to fix its just knowing where to look. I just happened to walk passed the car in the dark and saw the glow shining through the parcel shelf.

I should have taken notice of the note on the keyring "don't leave in, as car locks itself"

Its quite common - mine did it during the remap but luckily my window was down......

Citroens do it too - nowadays I simply leave the drivers door ' on the latch ' if it is still running, this stops it from happening and keeps the rain out.
