I think the rot set in with the Mk2 Mondeo.....

Just to show how things have changed, on a 1983 Fiat Strada I once suffered briefly, the rear fog went off if you put the headlights on main beam.

With 1960's Jaguar MkII and S-types, the lighting selector switch only let you choose Headlights OR Foglights

....and they call it progress.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Hope I never have to drive one of those then, the instrument cluster getting hard to see is the cue I use to put the sidelights on (headlamps go on when i'll be able to see 'em in the road in front...)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

On my 63 plate lorry the rear fogs only work with the headlights on.......

But I agree with you all on these new cars, the silly lights on the front does make Honda Civic drivers oblivious to the dark and the possibility of a rear end shunt ( ooer.. :supafrisk: )

I wonder if the main stealers can over-ride these so the lights are only on when its dark, like normal cars..

On a brighter note, the fog probably helped me arrive at work with my trip reading over 50 mpg for the first time ever. :cheesy:
Filled up the night before, 66.3 litres for 700 miles = 48 mpg on the last tankful.
Maybe, I'm losing my touch? :?
