2.2HDI Vibration at Idle, Chugging from Exhaust!

Post by bigjohn333 »

So all of the sudden after a 200 mile motorway journey the car is vibrating at idle (rev needle twitches a bit but it always has)

The exhaust sounds alot louder (Throatier and deeper) , but there are no holes etc in it.

There is a vibration at idle, it is not severe, but noticable through the steering wheel, centre console, seat and drivers door when open.

There also seems to be slightly less power and the car smooths out as soon as it's on boost, but alot noiser, like I've put a cherry bomb on the car.

Oil is full.

Only thing that's change is I put a new electrovalve on the turbo, or more importantly, swapped it with the working EGR one and blocked that up.

Was fine for 350 miles now this.

Also big puff of black and blue smoke on start up and doesn't start as smooth as it did. But always first time.

Thought it could be injectors, ran a bottle of Forte through with V-Power (Made no difference)

Suggestions? (P.S No Engine Light, No new codes with PP2000)

Check your injector correction values?

Picture from PP2000

How do I go about replacing injector.

Any special tools required?

TBH they are all a little high, I'd be inclined to give her a good dose of a quality injector cleaner and an italian tune up before I did anything else.
It may just be some crap stuck if you're lucky.

Failing that give these people a ring and get a quote for refurbishment.

Thanks Gumby.

It's just had a tank of V-Power and Forte through it.

I've driven it like a nut case, 4,500 in every gear, the amount of black smoke that used to come out and does now other the last few months is less and less.

Ran a can of EGR Cleaner through the intake lately too.

It's only just started.

Have a butcher's at my tale of woe. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14490&hilit=+wobble

Very unlikely I know, but it might be worth unplugging No.3's electrical connector just to make sure it's actually working.

I had pretty much the same symptoms and have done all the usual easy ways to sort out as you have.
I ended up taking all my injectors out and having them tested, 1 turned out to be clogged.
Ultrasonic cleaned and re tested, car now purrs again
