Ebay password reset troubles

Post by steve_earwig »

If anyone else is having troubles changing their ebay password - I was trying since last night but the fabled email to tell me how to change it never appeared (despite me trying an OCD 30+ times  ) so I just tried going in through the global site (http://www.ebay.com/) and I got it straight away. Just use your usual user name & password, they'll all log you in

It took me substantially more than that, from last night when I could still get in there to today when all I could do is change the password, hitting the Get Mail button over and over, resending the email from ebay yet again, and again, checking the settings on Thunderbird, maybe something happened to the email details on ebay because it's not sent me anything since yesterday and it usually emails me stuff every day because I have so many damned saved searches going all the time but I can't check it because I can't do anything other than change the bloody password which I can't fffffffffffffffffaaaaaaarrrrking do

So, I thought just in case someone else was having the same sort of fun I'd post on here with my solution. Good ate'nt I?

The first one didn't arrive for me, but the second one did.

I recently changed my e-mail address and ended up on the phone to them: it doesn't send the e-mail if you're using Firefox but it does if you're using IE. I kid you not. So  to eBay for making me use the bastard piece of shite known as Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I'm on Firefox..?? No problems whatsoever.... 8)

I only use IE if Firefox is having problems, or if I'm downloading 'large files'... :supafrisk:

Yeah, I was expecting having to re-click the send e-mail button in IE but this one worked in Firefox -- my browser of choice.
Although all the kool kidz at work seem to be using Chrome now.
