Passenger Electric Window Motor Broken....

Hello, has anyone here had to fix a broken electric window motor?

I removed all the bits from the inside of the front passenger door to have a look at the faulty window and all I can see is the white plastic lump the motor fits onto making the most horrible grinding and screeching noises whilst jumping around a bit....

I'm no expert, but to me it looks and sounds a bit f*cked.

I'm sure I can remove said motor/window assembly to replace the broken part(s) - its just putting it back which I may find a bit tricky - so any pointers??

Tape the window up with masking tape to stop it dropping into the door (it probably won't but...)

I've not done a 406 but usually it seems to be a matter of having it powered up so you can wind it approximately into place, slip it into the runner(s) and allow the glass to move into place as you line the bolts up.

Will you be repairing or replacing? D8s are obviously not going to work, there's also an RPO at 8791 (December 2000). There are some kits on ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-406-W ... 1e63968f74 I've had some success with this sort of thing on a friend's Renault but Lozz didn't on his Picasso. I must say it was a complete pain in the bum pulling on the cables to get them hooked around the pulleys, so probably not something you want to attempt if it's likely to end up getting thrown over a hedge at some point...

I've done one of those. Next time I'll just get a complete one from ebay as it was a bother and used one are quite cheap anyway.

Well I fixed it earlier - its a piece of cake.

Ebay item was £15 and it took 30mins for a ham fisted amateur like me to fit Its only 5 10mm bolts on the motor/arms and a clip that holds the glass in place.

Good times.

I bought a complete motor and arm with cables ( looks like a semi-circle ) as it seemed easier/quicker to fit, which it is
