I have yet again got problems with my central locking.
Very occasionally the front passenger door doesn't unlock and has to be unlocked manually and at times when I go to lock my car it wont lock and I have to slam this door and then it will. I have also noticed today that when I press the lock button, the passenger door sounds like the cenral locking is struggling and whines a bit. It does still lock most of the time though.
Does anyone have any ideas about this one and the cost if it will require any parts?
Guessing it'd either be the solenoid/motor dying, or the mechanism rusting up. Either way it shouldn't be too difficult or expensive to fix, either with a few squirts of WD40 or a visit to a breakers yard
I don't know woo much about these things, but what I'd probably try is taking off the passenger and drivers door cards, finding the motor/solenoid, and giving the mechanism a push/turn by hand to see if it's noticeably more difficult on the passenger side, indicating a mechanical problem (WD40)
Yeah dont think I'd have used it many more times than that. Might nhave to if this keeps on happening! I am hopefull about it just needing a bit of a lube. Just got to get the chance to take the door card off.
ooh that reminds me I really need to get round to using my locks occasionally (ok, for the first time ever...) before they rust to pieces or sieze or something.
One should use the locks occasionaly or they might sieze up.
I bought my mother an Citroen ZX that had remote central locking and the locks had never been physically touched. All of them were siezed up and no ammount of WD 40 would shift em. I emptied an entire can
