Just a quick thanks

Post by blinkinink »

Just followed the handbrake adjustment guide in the KB section.
Worked out perfectly. Handbrake is now solid at 4 clicks.

It wasnt a perfect example in the case of my car.
In my car, I couldn't get a socket onto the adjustment nut by the handbrake as it had been adjusted so far down that I would have needed a double deep socket. I didnt want to remove the centre console, so I just fiddled with a 10mm open ended spanner for an eternity until I'd undone it.

Rear adjuster was fine to loosen up, not siezed, but the lock nut was separate and HAD siezed halfway long the thread. The thread was super rusty after it, so I took the decison to remove the locknut altogether (took a bit of heat from a portable gas soldering iron minus the soldering nib, to break the rust. Improvisation!). Having removed the lock nut I had to grip the cable with some pliers and turn the adjuster through the rust right to the end of the adjustment. It was still a touch loose, but having then tightened it up about half and Inch or so at the handbrake its all nice and tight now.

Pictures helped a lot.
So thanks to whoever wrote that up.

No probs!
This site has proved itself a valuable knowledge pool, as with many model specific forums I have used in the past.
