Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Just had the key back. Perfect service. New microswitches soldered, buttons replaced to match.

Button action is very direct now with very little depression needed.
And above all, the remote locking now works. So it was just the keys and not the bsi.

Will be sending him my spare key now as well so that I know it's fully functional for the future

Hi I don't know if anyone will still see this post but it's worth a try, I've bought a car and the remote locking doesn't work on the fob but it all locks and unlocks via the key now I've been to my local car spares and they tested the fob and said it is transmitting so appers in good order so could someone please tell me what part receives the signal in the car?? Also I'm not sure if it is linked to the RCL but my curtsy lights don't come on when i open any of the doors yet it still tells me i have opened whichever door on the dashboard.. If anyone could help me out i would be grateful.

Thanks

You probably need to recode the keys using the Planet diagnostic system. Where are you based?

I live in Dinnington near Sheffield buddy, without meaning to sound like an ass why do they loose their coding? I'm sure it's nothing ive done as it's never worked since i got it but would like to make sure i don't repeat and end up with the same problem somewhere down the line.

Often due to incorrect shutting down and starting up of the BSI - it's not as easy as simply disconnecting the battery on these cars, you have to let the BSI go to sleep and then wake it in the right sequence.

It's been known to happen even if these precautions are taken though, but that is certainly the major cause.
