cruise control disengages
Hello all,
I have a Peugeot 406 SV,Year 2000, 8BRFVT, engine type:RFV . covered 200,000 km.
a few days ago during my trip on the highway the cruise control disengaged for no known reason.
i always use the cruise control while on the highway but now it is impossible.
sometimes it engages (usually for the first time i try it) but disengages again after a few kilometers. then, when
i try to engage it again i hear a clicking sound but nothing happens (cruise is not engage).
i read in the forum about that clicking sound but i could not understand the explanation

Re: cruise control disengages
I guess it means if u hear the sound of clicking while the cc did not engaged, then your servo mechanism is bad...its located at the left side inside the bonnet
Re: cruise control disengages
Thanks for the replay,
being a bed at mechanics I Google this "servo mechanism" part and i am confuse about it.
afterwards i took a pic of the car according to your instruction.
is this the part ?

Re: cruise control disengages
The pics I pasted here was the servo mechanism, located at the bottom left in my car...that's D9 engine
Re: cruise control disengages
thank you for the pic, I truly appreciate your time and effort.
We clearly have different motor types. i could not locate the part though (cause i don't know what i'm looking for).
do you think it's in the same location.
can you please send a link for the part in ebay or something.

Re: cruise control disengages
These are not the solenoids you are looking for...
I'm actually a bit confused as to what you're after, the actuator vacuum unit should be bolted to the suspension tower near the ABS block.
The usual problem with cruise seems to be the switches on the pedal are unsynchronised and the usual test appears to be to pull the brake pedal up with your foot while you're driving and try to engage cruise, presumably to make sure the brake pedal switch is properly open. Or is it the clutch pedal? Maybe both (but probably not at the same time...

2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Re: cruise control disengages
just got beck from a long drive. tried the foot under the brake pedal a couple of times - nothing append (i.e cc did not engaged), just this clicking sound again.
suddenly after a 20 min i tried the cc again (no tricks pedals and so) and i worked.....for 5 min, then disengaged again all by itself for the rest of the trip.
stupid cc!

Re: cruise control disengages
Hi,
I've desided to take a chance and replace the CC servo - made by HELLA.
do you know what is the part number? is it the one stumped on the part in the pic.
do you know it's location? I found some reference that says it's behind the glove box (pic)

Re: cruise control disengages
Finally found the problem - the vacuum pump is fault.
Official Peugeot dealer wants around 700 euro to replace it. but basically it's the car price.
any suggestions about what to do?

Do you have access to ebay? Maybe you could get a used unit from ade1122 the coupé (amongst other things) breaker.

No, they'll be for brake (etc:) vacuum. This seems to be the cruise vacuum pump (#1):

It seems to be PSA's vacuum pump for lots of cars:
