Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Cruise control

Post by Ady1985 »

2000 plate estate, got cruise control stalk, plugged into 5 pin plug on steering control, took switches off clutch and brake and live tested them and they are working fine but pp2000 registered that brake switch is permanent active, any ideas, only switch I don't have is the on off switch that goes next to diagnosis port.

Did you push the switch in too far?

It needs to be the same distance away from the pedal as the other one, or a tiny bit further out maybe....

Pressed in with finger whilst plugged in, still not having any of it, always saying active, adjusted them, tested switches off car and also stripped and checked internals

I'd do a continuity check across the brake pedal switch in situ.

Ordered a continuity tester and ordered a new brake pedal switch, should have both tomorrow, I'll fit new switch and it seems I'll need 1 of these testers as a lot of things need testing and will come in handy in my french collection lol

Done test and even fitted new switch, still showing active on pp2000 even with brake pedal pressed and depressed and switch unplugged, got me bamboozled now.

Oh, I just remembered. I did a quick diagnostic for James a while ago to pinpoint his ABS fault, and his Cruise Control was active too - even though he had no stalk, no brake switch or anything, in fact PP2000 thought his car was an auto..??
